Today, I'm OK.
Not because everything in my life is perfect.
Not because every problem has disappeared.
Not because my heart is lighter than it was yesterday.
Today, I'm OK because I've decided to be.
This morning, I woke up with hope. Not the kind of hope that promises an easy day, but the kind that whispers, "Just keep going." Today, I promised myself that I would finally do the things I need — not just the things everyone else needs from me.
For so long, I've made sure everyone else was taken care of.
The meals were cooked.
The house was clean.
The appointments were remembered.
The problems were solved.
The smiles were protected.
Somewhere in all of that, I quietly forgot to ask myself the simplest question: "What do I need today?"
Today, I'm asking.
When I step into the shower, I don't just want my body to feel clean. I want my mind to feel refreshed. I want the water to wash away some of yesterday's worries and remind me that every new day is another chance to begin again.
Today, I'm OK.
Today, I will walk with purpose.
Maybe I'll have to count every step.
Maybe I'll have to slow down.
Maybe some moments will feel heavier than others.
But every step I take is still a step forward. And that's enough.
Today, I'm OK.
After I've made dinner and everyone has eaten, after the dishes are stacked and the laughter fills the house, after everyone walks away satisfied, I want to remember something that I so often forget: I matter, too.
Because if everyone else is cared for while I slowly disappear, no one really wins.
Today, I'm OK.
Today, I'm OK with taking care of myself. I'll eat what nourishes me, not what fills an emotional space. I'll sip just enough coffee to make me smile.
Not because coffee fixes everything… but because sometimes joy lives in the smallest rituals. Today, I am choosing those little moments.
Today, I'm OK.
The voices in my head may still try to speak.
The voices that question.
The voices that worry.
The voices that replay yesterday.
The voices that predict tomorrow.
Today, they don't get to lead. I'm not asking them to quiet down. I'm telling them. Today is my OK day. This isn't a negotiation. This is a decision.
At work, I'll do everything I reasonably can. I'll give my best effort, my attention, and my heart. But when the workday ends, I'll leave knowing I did enough.
I refuse to measure my worth by the unfinished tasks still sitting on my desk. There will always be more work tomorrow. There will never be another today.
So today… I'm OK.
The drive home may test my patience. Traffic may slow me down. Someone may cut me off. The clock may remind me how much I still have to do.
But I refuse to let traffic steal my peace. I'll breathe. I'll remind myself that arriving safely matters more than arriving quickly.
And I'll say it again: today, I'm OK.
When I walk through my front door, life will probably greet me exactly the way it always does.
Someone will ask what's for dinner.
Someone will need help.
Someone will be looking for something they've misplaced.
The dogs will bark.
The television will be on.
The house will be alive.
Some days, that noise feels overwhelming. Today… it sounds like love.
Because one day the house will be quiet. The children will have lives of their own. The questions will stop. The barking may become a memory. And I'll probably miss the very chaos that exhausts me today.
So today…
I'm OK with the noise.
I'm OK with the interruptions.
I'm OK with the imperfections.
I'm OK with being human.
Most importantly… I'm OK with not always being OK.
Because healing isn't pretending life is easy. Strength isn't smiling through every storm. Peace isn't the absence of problems.
Peace is choosing yourself in the middle of them.
Today, I choose grace over guilt. Presence over perfection. Progress over pressure. Hope over fear.
And if tomorrow is harder… I'll make the choice again.
But today…
Today, I'm OK.
And if you're reading this, wherever you are right now — you're allowed to be OK too. Not perfect. Not fixed. Just OK. Say it with me: today, I'm OK.
